Mohammed Merhi

Lawyer
LLB, BPsySc (LaTrobe)

Mohammed Merhi is an Australian Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Victoria and a Solicitor of the High Court of Australia, having completed a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Psychological Science at La Trobe University.

Mohammed has assisted with highly complex immigration matters, ranging from the primary application stage to matters before the Administrative Review Tribunal and Courts. Mohammed has experience with visa refusals and visa cancellations that arise due to a wide range of matters such as character concerns and the provision of false or misleading information.

In addition to his experience as an immigration lawyer, Mohammed practiced in criminal law where he undertook daily appearances at the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria for a range of matters including driving offences, dishonesty offences, family violence offences and assault offences. This experience provides him with an insight into the intersectionality between criminal law and immigration law, such as how a person’s immigration status can be affected when they are charged with, or found guilty of, a criminal offence.

Prior to his work as an immigration lawyer, Mohammed was employed by the Department of Home Affairs. This unique position provides him with practical experience and insight in relation to how the Australian government interacts with immigration matters.
